South Baldwin Community Theater
also known as
The George C. Meyer Theatre Arts Center
The South Baldwin Theater was our home from
September 1998 until March 1999. During this time the stage was our chancel area
with a temporary pulpit and choir seating which was put up and taken down after each
service. Whatever scenery was painted for the play currently in progress was used as
a backdrop for our worship services as well. It made for a lot of interesting views
each week as there was never a way to know what the scenery would be changed to next.
There are two pages of photographs of the
theater which are describe below. You will note that the photos are rather dark and
not nearly as clear as some of the later photos taken. This was due in part to the
lighting and in part to operator error (the web master's) which eventually was overcome.

One of our members paved the parking lot in
consideration of the theater's kindness |

Straight on photo of entrance to the
"vestibule" and "fellowship hall" which also served as the children's
Sunday school classroom. The adults met in the theater. There was only one
class. |
| Parking Lot |
This one has cars in it. It was several months
before the paved parking was in place. |
| Youth preparing to go to new sanctuary |
On the Sunday we moved, everyone left the theater
and went by car caravan to the then "new" sanctuary. |
